About 50 years ago, an Iranian philosopher and intellectual, named Dr. Ali Shariati, who also happened to have a very good command of Western philosophy, summarized all human movements and endeavors in 3 things: mysticism, equality, and freedom. Indeed, humanity has paid a great price for these 3 important things. In this section, we will examine the views of Persian-speaking mystics on justice and freedom.
Pope Francis died in April 2025. During his tenure as head of the Catholic Church, he worked hard to build bridges between Christians and Muslims. To honor his memory, this presentation explores Rumi’s insights on religious diversity and tolerance. Rumi sees an inherent unity among all messengers of God (and faith traditions by extension).
