
Mysticism and love as the best and most valuable concepts in the world (rejecting anything but God)
“Love” (“eshgh” in Persian), as stated on the main page, is the happiest, most meaningful, most profound, and most valuable concept and word in the world. Love is the very essence and the ultimate summary of all Persian literature and mysticism. The Persian mystics regarded love as the reason for the creation of the universe. They saw both the beginning and the end of existence—and of all things—as rooted in it.
This word cannot be confined within a single definition; it can only be described. Yet many of the great Persian mystics found it abstruse and ineffable.
Pope Francis died in April 2025. During his tenure as head of the Catholic Church, he worked hard to build bridges between Christians and Muslims. To honor his memory, this presentation explores Rumi’s insights on religious diversity and tolerance. Rumi sees an inherent unity among all messengers of God (and faith traditions by extension).
